  1. While I don’t spend too much time at the store thinking that, while i am gardening or reading seed catalogs I do think that. I’m going to plant red mangels for my chickens too. Gardening for goats, there’s a post for you.

  2. My guys like corn chips. Makes sense since there is corn in their grain. So when I’m in the store I stop and think (and usually purchase) some corn chips for my goats.

  3. I have never thought of feeding treats to my goats…I know Thelma and Louise do not like carrots or apples so I was thinking about looking around for some tin cans, but if I can buy some treats in the store that would be fantastic!!!

  5. Scape and Tee enjoyed headbutting the old mirror they found in the woodshed (we moved in 6 months ago)…. that was a great treat for them until i confiscated it. We’ve only had them on our land for 3 months, so it’s an ongoing education, including this post above. Apricots would be their treat from the supermarket judging by their appetite for them when fallen fruit on our land.

  10. I garden for the goats too, not much grocery shopping. Their most favorite treats are beets, collard greens and soybeans. I am hard pressed, however, to dig anything out of the garden that they won’t eat.

  11. We have a small flock of Pygora goats out here in central Montana, altitude 7000 ft! They are very affectionate, fuzzy friends who have two horses and Highland cows to keep them company in the pasture. The horses even allow them to climb on top of them when they are lying down! Our babies do love to get treats. Anise is a favorite flavor, but they like apples a lot, too. Also, sunflower seeds and a saltine cracker now and then! Reading these posts, I now have a few more ideas and can’t wait to try the beets!

  12. I had some horse treats that my goats loved, especially the apple flavor. Pippin, our wether, has decided he likes pumpkins, and this time of year is a great time to find people willing to get rid of a jacko’lantern or two. Nice thing is he shares with the chickens because they like ’em too!

  13. I use the herbal wormer system from Molly’s Herbals (Fias Co Farm). I make the weekly herbal balls using peanut butter & molasses. Not only is it a tasty treat for my girls, it is beneficial. They know when Wed. comes around they get their treat. (They don’t know it’s good for them!)
